Catherine and I arrived at Heathrow Airport at 7:30 on the morning of Tuesday, January 2, 2007. The flights (1.5 hours from Springfield to Chicago, 3 hours wait, then 7 hours from Chicago to London) were fast and comfortable. I was delightedly grateful that I did not suffer as I had in my Atlantic crossing of 1996. We both felt great; the only hard part was lugging our suitcases. Tadeusz Ujejski met us at 22 Hornton St. We walked around Kensington High Street, napped a little, but immediately got ourselves on London time (GMT) by going to sleep around 21:30. Our dinner consisted of pasta left in the cupboard by previous residents, excellent salad and broccoli from Marks and Spencer across the street. We love it here. I feel right at home.
I must confess, though, that I'm a little too tired to take any pictures today.
